The Niman Ranch Story     The Beef Difference    Niman Ranch Protocols   Niman Ranch Pork vs. C.A.F.O.
NIMAN RANCH PROTOCOLS

  • Cattle enter the Niman Ranch feedlot at around 900 lbs and sixteen to twenty months old.  Niman mixes their own feeds rather than buying a commercially made ration.  This practice requires that Niman invest and maintain grain storage facilities, milling equipment, and mixing trucks.
  • Niman cattle typically finish at 1300 to 1400 lbs. between 20 to 24 months of age.
  • Niman’s finish out ration consists of hay, silage, barley, corn, wheat, soybean meal, distiller’s dried grains and molasses for an average of 140 days.  This sweet diet contributes to the marbling and depth of flavor characteristics of Niman Ranch meat.
  • No Antibiotics and No added Hormones ever.
  • Family ranchers own cattle from birth to feedlot; cattle rancher’s in Niman’s program are required to practice good stewardship of grazing lands whether privately owned or publicly owned.
  • Niman’s Caldwell Idaho finishing facility can only hold up to 3,000 head, all segmented in various stages of finish out.
